Overview:

Just breathe, Kacey. Ten tiny breaths. Seize them. Feel them. Love them.

Four years ago Kacey Cleary’s life imploded when her car was hit by a drunk driver, killing her parents, boyfriend, and best friend. Still haunted by memories of being trapped inside, holding her boyfriend’s lifeless hand and listening to her mother take her last breath, Kacey wants to leave her past behind. Armed with two bus tickets, twenty-year-old Kacey and her fifteen-year-old sister, Livie, escape Grand Rapids, Michigan, to start over in Miami. Struggling to make ends meet, Kacey needs to figure out how to get by. But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle anything—anything but her mysterious neighbor in apartment 1D.

Trent Emerson has smoldering blue eyes, deep dimples, and he perfectly skates that irresistible line between nice guy and bad boy. Hardened by her tragic past, Kacey is determined to keep everyone at a distance, but their mutual attraction is undeniable and Trent is determined to find a way into Kacey’s guarded heart—even if it means that an explosive secret could shatter both their worlds.

My Review:
*disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher via netgally in return for an honest review*

OMG Ten Tiny Breaths was an AMAZING read!  K.A. Tucker is a new author on my favorite list and I'm pretty sure I will be reading anything and everything she puts out in the future.  The story of Kacey was a thoughtful and heart wrenching story that is extremely well written.  From the opening chapter of the book you are pulled into the history of Kacey and her family and can't let go.  And then you get on the roller coaster, you can feel it going up, you can hear the click, click, click as it goes higher and higher !  I could see where the story was going but just like any good roller coaster I couldn't see when it was going to hit!  Then we reached the top and BAM!  I happened to be in a very long line at the post office when it hit and I let out an audible "NO WAY!!!" and garnered the attention of the entire line of people, I won't be doing that again!

There wasn't anything to dislike in the book.  Kacey is  smart, strong and sassy, there were no whiny helpless heroines in this story!  Trent is hot, emotional and loving with a dangerous secret!  You even fall for the supporting characters, you can't help but love Livie's shy, sweet, help everyone attitude while at the same time rooting for the neighbor Storm who ends up being a better friend than expected.  The best part of the book is that not a single character fits into a typical stereotype.  You would think that strippers would be sluts, strip club owners would be assholes, the landlord would be a creeper.....but nothing turns out as it seems!

The only reason I gave 4.5 stars instead of 5 was that I wanted a little bit more!  The ending was great but it felt a bit rushed, or maybe it was that I didn't want it to end.

I cannot recommend this book enough, Anyone who likes romance novels should go out and get this book.  It's a Must Read for 2013
